MUSIC & INSTRUMENTS

My talent level could be called "enjoyable street corner performer."

Music & Instruments: Skills

PIANO

Self taught. I can't read or write music at a reasonable speed. But I can play chords, chord tones, and minor blues. I really love blues and jazz piano, boogie woogie, and gospel roots.

UKULELE

10 Years

Self taught. When I left for college, the drum set couldn't come with me. I picked up a ukulele and never looked back. The sound is so soft, but happy. I played Twist and Shout in Cuba, on a tobacco farm for a family who had never heard of the Beatles. When my son was born, I played him a song called "First day of my Life" and I would bring it to the NICU to play at his bedside.

DRUMS

This was my love when I was a kid. I was taught by Austin/ Texas legend, Ernie Durawa. I don't get to touch them a lot these days, but I can always play some pickup.

HARMONICA

I can harmonize and jump in on some blues or jazz that's being played. Mick Jagger played the harmonica at the Austin Rolling Stones concert in November '21, so it's cool again.
